Market
recovered almost 600 points at the end of the day, as investor took it an
opportunity to accumulate at lower levels today. However, today market opened
on a negative note as instability & vague political and Law & Order
situation in the country allowed the bear to hit the market to as low as
40176.81 points. Moreover the benchmark-100 index plunged by 0.21% or 87.27
points and to closed, at 40764.76 levels. Swift activity witnessed in the market
as turnover settled at 367 million shares as compared to 277 million shares in
the last trading session. Shares of 385 companies were traded, at the end of
the day 111 stocks closed higher, 259 declined, while 15 remained unchanged.
The value of shares traded during the day was at recorded the level of PKR 7.92
billion increased by 33%.
Volatility
prevailed in capital market; major activity witnessed in Commercial Banks,
Power Generation & Distribution and Technology sector. In Banking sector,
BOP, HBL remain the shining star throughout the session and appreciated their
value by 2.26%, 1.04%, while NIB depreciated by 3.85%. In Power Generation
Sector, KEL improve their value by 0.77%, while SEL , JPGL depreciated their
value by 2.81%, 0.50%.Moreover in Technology sector TRG, WTL depreciated their value by 1.42%, 5.84%, while
SYS improve their value by 2.85%.
Active
list was topped by BOP with 50 million shares as it closed at PKR 17.64 with a
positive change of PKR 0.50. KEL was the second highest on the volume chart
with 27 million shares closed at PKR 9.19 with a positive change of PKR 0.03.
It was followed by DSLR with 22 million shares closed at PKR 3.53 with a
positive change of PKR 0.02, PACE with 15 million shares closed at PKR 11.47 with
a positive change of PKR 0.69.
Today
major trading activities were recorded in Commercial Banks Sector as it was traded
above 72 million shares followed by Power Generation & Distribution sector
which recorded the volume of 37 million shares whereas Technology &
Communication sparked at 3rd place by trading above 34 million shares.
Highest
increase was recorded in the shares of Sanofi-Aventis, which rose by PKR
68.35 to PKR 1435.45 per share; followed by Sapphire Tex, that improved by PKR
58.58 to PKR 1230.24 per share. Major decline was witnessed in the shares of
Bata (Pak), which fell by PKR 120.53 to PKR 4179.47 per share; followed by Pak
Tobacco, dropped by PKR 49.37 to PKR 1125.63 per share.
